Carbonite is regularly updated to ensure that it's providing the best experience for you and addresses any potential issues that may arise in previous releases.

Reinstalling Carbonite can help with a number of problems and is one of the quickest ways to reconnect to our servers or troubleshoot any issue you may see with Carbonite.

Moving Carbonite?
If you have gotten a new computer to replace an old one, you can easily transfer your Carbonite subscription over to the new computer from your old one. You can also restore your backed up files to the new computer after transferring Carbonite. For details, please view the Restore section.

Backing up Files

Carbonite lets you add files to and remove files from your backup at any time during your subscription.
What's backed up?
Carbonite will automatically back up any selected files to the cloud. During the installation process, you can choose to have Carbonite select the most common file types for you or manually make your own selections.

Carbonite administrators can control which folders and file types are included / excluded from the backup by managing backup policies in their account.
Backing up files
Backing up files or folders is simple and easy: just find the file, right-click it, and select Carbonite; Back this up. You'll see a status dot appear on the file or folder, indicating the file's backup status.
Removing files
You may find some files or folders in your Carbonite backup that you don't want or need backed up. Removing files from your backup is also easy to do.
If you delete a file from your computer and the file is backed up with Carbonite, Carbonite will also remove the file from from your backup within 30 days.

Restoring files

Your backed up files are safe, and it's easy to get them back.
Download some files
If you don't need everything back, there are a couple of ways that you can restore only the files you want at the moment.
- Restoring individual files or folders - Are you at your computer with Carbonite installed? This walks you through how to get any backed up files or folders using the installed Carbonite software.
- Restoring files through your account - Not at your computer and still need a file? No problem! This walks you through how to log into your account and download files or folders using the Carbonte web interface.
Restore all of your files
With Carbonite you can restore your entire backup to a new or repaired computer by going through our Restore Manager.
All done with your restore?
Once you've finished restoring, most of your restored files will be ready to use right away. However, you may be using software that requires an import process before you can access your restored data again (i.e. Outlook, Quicken, Quickbooks, etc.) We can guide you through what to do after the restore process is done.

Escalation:
If escalation is necessary, please escalate to Tier 2 as first POC, if Tier 2 is unavailable please escalate to SME.
If neither the Tier 2 or SME is NOT available and issue is urgent escalate to Sam Li.
