Adding an external user to a DL or shared mailbox-

 

Audience – Tier 1, Tier 2, DEPOT, Cloud

 

Description :

          How to add an external user: 

 

Procedure:

 

  1. Launch https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com
  2. On the left hand side click Contacts under the Recipients listing

  1. Click add a contact at the top of the screen

  1. Change Contact type from mail user to mail contact and fill in the name, email, and company (if you have it)

Now you should be able to edit the DL/Mailbox and when searching the newly added contact should populate as an option to pick. 

 

Escalation: 

 

If escalation is necessary, please escalate to Tier 2 as first POC, if Tier 2 is unavailable please escalate to SME.

 

If neither the Tier 2 or SME is NOT available and issue is urgent, escalate to Sam Li.
